Turkey Chili

This isn't a spicy chili, so add hot peppers or more cayenne pepper/chili powder if you like a hot chili.

1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 - 3/4 pound ground turkey
1/2 - 3/4 pound ground beef or ground turkey
2 cups water
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes or 1/2 jar sauce
1 (16 ounce) can pinto or kidney beans
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 can or 1/2 package mushrooms, optional
1/2 jalapeno pepper, optional
1/2 cup sweet pepper, optional
1/4 onion, optional
Add the oil to a Dutch oven and heat on medium for a few minutes. Add the ground turkey and ground beef and brown.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover and simmer for at least 30 minutes.

I also made this in the slow cooker. I browned the meat for about 6 - 7 minutes. Added it and the fat to a slow cooker. Then added all of the other ingredients and cooked on low for 7 - 8 hours.
